Deze applicatie is uw gids doorheen de tweede editie van het lichtfestival in Gent. Een bruisend 4-daags festival. Van donderdag 26 tot en met zondag 29 januari vormen de Gentse nachten het decor voor verrassend spektakel, ingenieuze installaties, spectaculaire performances en mooie evenementen gebaseerd op licht.
Dit jaar heeft het lichtfestival als thema ‘Geluk’. Niet toevallig want in 2012 viert Gent het Maeterlinckjaar. Op 9 november 2011 was het precies 100 jaar geleden dat Maurice Maeterlinck, auteur van Gentse origine, onderscheiden werd met de Nobelprijs literatuur. Maeterlincks beroemde, magische sprookje "L’Oiseau bleu", de Blauwe Vogel, gaat over de zoektocht naar geluk. En ook muziek maakt gelukkig. Gent werd recent nog door UNESCO uitgeroepen tot Creative City of Music. In 2012 reiken licht en muziek elkaar dan ook de hand. Muzikanten en lichtkunstenaars werken samen aan verschillende lichtprojecten.

Het lichtfestival vindt plaats in het historische centrum van Gent. Het parcours loopt langs vele historische plekken en monumenten. Van donderdag 26 tot zondag 29 januari 2012, telkens van 18u tot middernacht zijn de lichtinstallaties gratis te bezichtigen.
