What is "Skins"?

The term Skins refers to individual holes won/loss during a 2 to 4 person match play competition. The person or team that wins the most holes (Skins) will win the competition.

This App is a revision to my first version called Skins. It has taken me some time to revise the App to have an easier scoring interface. This version only works on IOS version 5.0. I hope to release before the end of 2013 a revised version for IOS 3.x and 4.x.

So what is Skins? A skins game is a variation on match play where each hole has an amount of money (the "skin") attached. The player with the lowest score on the hole wins the skin for that hole; if two or more players tie for the lowest score, the skin carries over to the next hole. This continues until a player wins a hole outright, which may (and often does) result in a player receiving the skins for previous hole(s) that they hadn't tied for. If players tie the 18th hole, either all players or only the tying players repeat the 18th hole until an outright winner is decided for that hole (and all undecided skins).

In this App, there are a few variations to the professional version described above:

If players tie the 18th hole, then no player wins that hole (and all undecided skins) - since we don't have the luxury of re-playing the 18th hole at our leisure.

Handicaps can be used to level out the playing field. You will need to select this option under Preferences.

Play as teams: 2 against 1, 3 against 1 or 2 against 2, and with or without handicaps.

A team or a player (when not playing teams) can PRESS after a hole has concluded. PRESS means double the "skin value" starting on the next hole. A PRESS can only be applied when at least one player or the other team cannot catch the player/team who has accumulated the most skins based on the remaining holes left in the match. For example, if team 1 has 10 skins and team 2 has no skins, and there are only 8 holes remaining in the match, team 2 can PRESS (double all future values of skins). The purpose of the PRESS is to give the losing player/team a chance to catch up to break even or to win overall. Each PRESS in essence starts a new skins game.
