Just draw an = sign with 2 fingers. Even though "=" isnt really needed for this calculator, it is the only way that Numbers Cruncher will say the answer

Numbers Cruncher is a unique theme on the age old Calculator. There are 2 ideas behind the design of this app:

1. "Why do we have buttons on a touch screen when we can use the whole screen?" In fact why should we ever have to look at the screen. Why not just write the info on the screen as a touch pad and let the device tell you what you are typing and the answers.

2. "Why are we limited to using 1 or 2 finger controls when we have 5 fingers on our hand?" The use of all our fingers would make the gesture possibilities endless!

So key features are:
1. Very precise Gesture algorithm for inputing numbers using 1-5 finger taps and 1-5 finger down swipes

2. Verbal response to input and the answer so you always know you are inputing the correct information. (Thanks to my 6 year old daughter Sadie for this).

3. Backspace and ClearAll to easily edit functions.

4. Detection of invalid or impossible input. Will say "oops" and display a question mark.

Idea:
This calculator uses gestures to symbolize numbers and operators. In fact the heart of this app is the unique way that the touch screen works and how it handles touches.

These gestures are very like what you would expect to use while using your fingers to count. Operators, the number 5, and 0 can pretty much be drawn on the screen. The number 5 is a unique problem since its so difficult to get 5 fingers on the screen so you can either do a 5 finger tap, a 5 finger swipe, or just draw the number. The number "0" is just a circle. and operators are just a portion of the actual operator. + is made by drawing an "L", divide a "/", and times a checkmark.

The default gesture algorithms in IOS has been completely overwritten to accomplish this idea. The new gesture programming has a unique mapping algorithm that makes it very easy to create new gesture possibilities. That is the heart of this app. What can we think of "outside the box?" As an example, Custom user generated gestures will be one of many new features for the next version of this app. You will be able to make your own Gestures and match them to the functions of the calculator. Another possible feature will be the ability to trace numbers directly from the IOS camera to import into Numbers Cruncher. I dont want to give them away but let me just say they will change the way we use calculators completely.

It takes a little getting used to but with a little practice you will find this app a wonderful tool for quick math without the need to ever look at the screen again.
